WAFU ‘B’ Women’s Cup: Host Cote d’Ivoire beat Ghana in opener

Host Cote d’Ivoire registered a lone goal victory over rivals Ghana in their opening match of the WAFU ‘B’ Women’s Cup, on Wednesday (14 February 2018), at the Robert Champroux Stadium, Abidjan.

 

Nina Kpaho Zote scored the only goal on 63 minutes to give ‘Les Elephantes’ the maximum points in the Group A fixture. Zote was also adjudged the best player of the match.

 


In the other Group A match, Burkina Faso thumped Niger 5-1.

 

The competition continues on Thursday, 15 February 2018, with Group B matches. Senegal will face Togo whilst Nigeria battles Mali, both at the Parc des Sports in Abidjan.



 

The tournament features teams from the West ‘B’ Zone, and is scheduled to end on Saturday, 24 February 2018.

In the opening game of the UFOA B Women's Cup in Abidjan, the Elephants of Ivory Coast defeated the Blacks Starlets (1-0, 63) on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Robert Champroux stadium. The goal of Ivorian women was scored by Kpaho Zoté Nina on an individual action. The Ivorian winger was voted best player of the match.

 

The second match between Burkina Faso and Niger saw the big victory of the Burkinabe (5-1). This success puts Burkina Faso in first place with 3 points +4 in front of Ivory Coast (3 points +1).

 

The second day will certainly be the final of Pool A between Ivorians and Burkinabe, this Friday, February 16, 2018 at 18H at the Parc des Sports.

 

The first day of the B starts this Thursday. It will put Senegal / Togo and Mali / Nigeria in opposition to the Parc des Sports.

 

The opening of the competition took place in the presence of UFOA Zone B President, Ghanaian Kwesi Nyantakyi and the President of the Ivorian Football Federation.
