Zambia coach Charles Bwale hopes his sides’ good away form will be critical against Burundi in the final round second clash on Sunday in Ngozi.

Zambia lead 1-0 from the first leg played last week at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka and at least a draw this weekend will suffice to see them through to next year’s Niger finals and third successive qualification.

The holders head into their final match on the road to Niamey not only unbeaten in their last three games, but cardinally enjoying a 100 per cent away run in the qualifiers.

Zambia beat Rwanda 2-0 away in Kigali at the penultimate round last May, and later drew 1-1 to advance 3-1 on aggregate, having drawn a bye at the prelims.

“What is important is to qualify to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals. The boys played well when they are away compared to the pressure they have when they are at home. We are confident we will have the job done in Burundi,” Bwale said.

However, the Junior Chipolopolo head into the match without striker Lameck Banda, who scored the 86th minute winner against Burundians last week. The Zesco United marksman is suspended following his sent-off after receiving his second booking of the match in the midst of his goal celebrations. In his place, Bwale has drafted in winger Prince Shipota of Prison Leopards.

The onus is now on striker Francisco Mwepu to carry the burden for goals, having scored twice in the qualifiers thus far.

The winner after the weekend second leg matches join host Niger and six others for the final tournament scheduled for 2-17 February 2019.
