Ghana were crowned champions of the WAFU ‘B’ Women’s Cup after beating host Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in the final on Saturday at the Robert Champroux Stadium in Abidjan.

Defender Janet Egyir scored the only goal after two minutes, as the Ghanaians avenged for their opening loss to Ivorians by the same scoreline.

The Ivorians were left heartbroken after their inspired performance in the regional championship came to a naught.

Meanwhile, Nigeria finished third after beating Mali 2-1 in the bonze match.

Egyir, whose goal handed Ghana the title, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, and compatriot Portia Boakye topscorer after netting four goals and three assists.

Ivorian Cinthia Djohore was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
